  1. I enjoyed Alan’s tour of the campus. He gave a particularly interesting overview of the campus, including some buildings I may never have every considered looking at before.

  2. It was great to have Alan Hess give us a detailed tour of the college. His tour was very informative and I enjoyed all the interesting facts about the University that I had no idea about. I enjoyed hearing how he described each building we came across and I was fascinated by his passion for architecture.

  3. It was an amazing experience getting to speak with and listen to Mr. Hess. He is someone who truly appreciates architecture and really left an impression on me. He possessed valuable insight on much of UCI’s architecture and taught me a lot about Pereira. Going on a tour with a famous person such as himself was a fantastic way to start of the course.

  4. It was great to have Alan Hess give us a detailed tour of the college that some of us were barely getting to know. His tour was insightful and informative and he really projected his love of architecture throughout the tour. The way he described the buildings was inspiring and he told us alot of fun facts about the campus that we did not know about.

  5. This tour was very much great because of its originality and credibility because of course we had Alan Hess. However, what I did not comprehend was why Alan was so conservative about the designs. He was not as open as my generations would be. All in all, that’s just my perspective.

  6. Alan Hess was a fantastic introduction to the series of tours the class held in the later part of the quarter. He was very informative and his passion for architecture on campus was inspiring. After the tour led by him, I have a better appreciation of the campus, especially the buildings that are widely regarded as the ‘ugliest buildings on campus’ like Langson/Gateway, Aldrich Hall, and the inspired original Engineering Tower/Computer Science buildings.

  7. It was really fun having Alan Hess as a guide and it was really cool that he knew so much about the campus. He interpreted Pereira’s buildings very and explain why he Pereira didn’t want to mess with the landscape.

  8. It was great having Alan Hess for our tour he really knew a lot about the architecture of the buildings in UCI. He also had great energy telling us about the buildings.
