Title: Investigating forces in collagen type 1 matrix

Abstract: Understanding how forces are transmitted through biological fibrous network is important for understanding development, wound healing, and disease. I will be discussing the questions we have, the tools we are using, and ideas that I have for understanding how cells alter the extracellular environment and are affected by changes in their surroundings. Topics that I will cover include: simulation of fibers, active microrheology, optical tweezers, light sheet microscopy, photo-activated cross-linking.
