College Teams Arrive

The 20 college teams competing in the Solar Decathlon 2013 registered Sunday. At 7:00am Monday morning they begin constructing energy efficient housing for the opening of the US Dept. of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and XPO on October 3, 2013.

The California Challenge competitors arrive on Friday, October 4 for the competition Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6.

The Orange County Engineering Council has joined as a sponsor of the California Challenge. OCEC members from engineering societies, companies and educational institutions in Orange County are dedicated to the recognition and promotion of quality engineering projects and successful engineers.

OCEC provided scholarships to UCI’s 2013 Introduction to Racecar Engineering Summer Program that supported High School race teams attending the California Challenge.

California Challenge to include College FSAE race teams

Collegiate race teams from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), and California State University, Northridge (CSUN) will join UCI in an FSAE class event at the California Challenge.

FSAE refers to Formula SAE which is one of the engineering competitions under the Collegiate Design Series of SAE International. Interaction of collegiate and high school race teams will be a unique and important aspect of the educational experience of the California Challenge.
