As part of the transition to EEE Canvas, the Office of Information Technology has been working to rebuild the EEE Evaluations tool. After several quarters of development and extensive user testing, we are ready to have people try out the self-diagnostic  midterm evaluation functionality as a pilot for a Spring Quarter 2017 class. For the duration of the pilot, this new tool will be referred to as “EEE Evaluations.Next” (and sometimes shortened to Evals.Next).

What’s new in EEE Evaluations.Next pilot?

The EEE Evaluations.Next pilot is available for midterm evaluations, and not for your official, department-conducted teaching evaluations typically conducted at the end of the term (official evaluations will be updated in a future project).

  • Customizable instruments: Create your own, custom forms using our intuitive new form creator
  • Assign whenever, however often: Assign forms anytime during the quarter, and assign multiple forms during the quarter; this is great for short, weekly or biweekly feedback from your students
  • Flexible assignment options: Distribute the form via email to anybody who you would like to invite
  • Refreshed results view: Easily review the results for your forms
  • Canvas-friendly gradebook download: Download a participant list and use OIT-provided tools to upload it to your Canvas gradebook

What’s missing in EEE Evaluations.Next Pilot?

  • No class associations: Evaluations during the Pilot will need to be distributed via email; we’re hard at work on implementing class associations, but it won’t be ready for Spring (currently on EEE, midterm evaluations must be associated to a class)
  • No shareable results: Evaluation results during the Pilot cannot be shared with other offices (currently on EEE, midterm evaluation results can be sent to the Center for Engaged Instruction)
  • No integration with Canvas: After the Pilot, you will be able to assign evaluations and view results from with Canvas
  • No email reminders: Since evaluations cannot be assigned to classes, email reminders cannot be sent, as a non-participant list will not yet be available

What you can expect from us

  • Typical EEE support: Contact us via phone or email with any questions; we’re here to help!
  • Standard EEE reliability: We’ll jump on any reported bugs and issues

What we need from you

  • Try out the tool with your classes, big or small
  • Create forms and distribute them to your students
  • View the results
  • Provide feedback

There will be additional opportunities to share your experiences with the campus (i.e. instructor panels, video interviews). Watch for more details throughout the pilot.

If you are interested in helping to make EEE Evaluations.Next the best possible evaluations tool for our campus, please let us know! We’ll follow-up in a few weeks with detailed information about how to participate.
