EEE DropBox

What’s happening to EEE DropBox?

EEE Canvas provides file distribution and assignment submission features. As such, EEE DropBox will be retired.

As an alternative, Google Drive provides unlimited space for the storage and sharing of files through Google Suite at UCI. It can be a great fit for both instructional and non-instructional use cases.

When will EEE DropBox be retired?

No timeline is currently available for the retirement of EEE DropBox, but we encourage all EEE DropBox users to explore the alternate tools available within OIT provided-tools.

What should I use instead?

The alternatives listed for each use case are described in further detail in the “List of alternatives” section, below.

List of alternatives to EEE DropBox

EEE DropBox facilitates both the collection and sharing of files with either the members of a class, or an outside group. The alternatives listed for each use case are described in further detail in the “List of alternatives” section, below.

EEE Canvas Assignments

Assignments in Canvas are similar to the AssignmentSubmission folder in EEE DropBox. If you use SpeedGrader to grade assignments, students can review their assignments within Canvas, similar to retrieving work from an AssignmentReturn folder.

EEE Canvas Files

Files in Canvas are similar to the ClassFiles folders in EEE DropBox.

Google Drive

Available within the OIT-support Google Apps, Drive is a great way to store and share files.

What about RapidReturn?

We are still investigating the most appropriate way to continue to offer the RapidReturn service in a Canvas environment. You should continue to use RapidReturn via the EEE DropBox. When we have identified a new process, we’ll reach out to all RapidReturn users directly to assist them with migrating.
