Scope

  • The team that builds and maintains the EEE learning management system will manage the pilot project to evaluate Canvas.
  • Instructors teaching any courses are encouraged to participate.
  • Instructors and students can use their existing UCInetID to login to Canvas.
  • Enrollment and course information will be available in Canvas and updated on a regular basis to process adds and drops.
  • During the pilot, instructors will still have access to the tools and resources on EEE, and may choose to use any tools from the existing suite.
  • Help documentation will be created and maintained by the EEE team and hosted at: http://help.eee.uci.edu/canvas/

Duration

  • The pilot project will last one year in order to provide instructors with time to consider, prepare for, teach from, and evaluate the platform.
  • Assessment of the pilot will occur throughout each quarter and will include surveys of instructors and students, as well as an invitation and mechanism for all participants to provide ad hoc feedback at any time.
  • Feedback will be collected and analyzed near the end of the pilot to determine future use of the system at UCI.

Participation

  • Participation in the pilot is completely optional.
  • During the pre-pilot phase there will be limited access to the system to allow the team that supports the LMS to prepare for the full pilot. If you would like to participate as an early-adopter, please let us know.
  • During the full pilot, any interested faculty member teaching any course can opt to use Canvas.
