Dr. Sara C. Mednick and researchers from the Department of Cognitive Science at the University of California, Irvine are recruiting participants for a sleep & memory study.
The purpose of this study is to further our understanding of human memory and identify approaches to enhance memory following a daytime nap. This study involves verbal learning tasks and a 90-minute nap with transcranial alternate current (tACS) to enhance naturally occurring sleep oscillation.
You are eligible to participate in this study if you are between the ages of 18 to 39, who speak English, have no major-medical problems, and have a regular sleep-wake schedule (obtain 6-9 hours of sleep per night).
The study will take place in Social Science Lab 380. Your participation will be a one-hour orientation and to 2 experimental sessions across 2 weeks. Within each experimental session, you will participate this study on consecutive 3 days (total 7 hours), including a nap visit day and two follow-up testing days.
As part of participating, you will be asked to keep a regular sleep-wake schedule, complete questionnaires and surveys, and take a 90-minute nap.
You will be paid for your participation in this research as follows: Compensation will be provided in the form of cash immediately upon completion of the study. You will receive total $80-$150 for your participation in this study, depending on if you complete one or two experimental sessions.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please fill out the prescreening questionnaires at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/sleepandmemory or contact the Sleep and Cognition Lab at TSERACT.SaCLab@gmail.com or (949)824-2684.
Thank you very much for your time.
