Knight-Hennessy Scholars Info Session– Learn more about the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship with a representative that will present at our special information session! The session will take place on Tuesday, April 18 at HG Room 1030. Presentation starts at 6:00 PM and light refreshments will be provided. Please register in advance!

Apply to become a mentee in the Peer Scholars Program within the UCI Scholarship Opportunities Program! The program takes place from late Spring Quarter and throughout Summer 2017.

Post-Baccalaureate Program in Psychology and Social Behavior

Applications are now being accepted for fall 2017 enrollment to the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Psychology and Social Behavior. Please consider sharing the information below with students, alumni, or anyone else you think might be interested in learning more about this program.

This program is designed for people with a bachelor’s degree in any field who are seeking preparation for graduate school in psychology or related fields, and for people seeking career development or career change. The program consists of eight courses, includes hands-on experience in research laboratory and internship settings, and can be completed at your own pace.

UROP Symposium Call for Abstracts

Dear UCI Students:
You are cordially invited to join us at the Twenty-Fourth Annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, in the UCI Student Center.
This stimulating day-long event provides an excellent opportunity for you, UCI faculty and staff, parents, alumni, members of the media, and the outside community to participate actively in communicating about research and creative activities in all academic fields. The Symposium gives students a rich experience in the presentation aspect of the research process through their oral and/or poster presentations and discussions.
We encourage you to make a presentation at the Symposium or to attend and learn about the research endeavors of your fellow undergraduates. The Presentation & Abstract Submission Form is available online at UROP Web site. The submission deadline is Monday, April 24, 2017.
Please note that UROP and SURP Fellows are required to submit an abstract and present at the Symposium; however, the event is open to all students to attend, present, or volunteer.

UROP Symposium Call for Abstracts

The 2017 Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held Saturday, May 20 in the UCI Student Center. We encourage you to make a presentation at the Symposium or to attend and learn about the research endeavors of your fellow undergraduates. The Presentation & Abstraction Submission Form is due by Monday, April 24, 2017. For more details on how to prepare an abstract, please review the Abstract Guidelines or attend UROP’s Prepare for Symposium Workshop on Wednesday, April 19.

UCI Care-a-thon

Come to UCI’s largest annual dance marathon, hosted by the UCI Student Alumni Association, for a great cause! Care-a-thon raises money for premature babies at the UCI Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). 100% of the funds raised goes directly to helping babies. If you don’t like dancing, come anyway! We’ll have free food, free t-shirts and other goodies, an instaworthy photobooth, dance crew performances, and much more! To attend the event, we ask that you fundraise $25. If that didn’t sell you, please considering donating any amount to the cause!

When: Thursday, April 13th from 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

UNDER THE SCOPE ART SUBMISSIONS: Participants in the show, including undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty and staff from all schools and departments, are invited to engage freely with the theme. Your creativity is important to us; we welcome submissions of all forms.

  • your full name, the title, and medium.
  • a short paragraph about your work and how it pertains to the theme with your submission.

12th Annual Human Security Award: Matthew Desmond

Honors Advisor Theresa Nguyen would like to invite you to join her in attending the keynote address of Matthew Desmond, the recipient of the 12th Annual Human Security Award presented by UCI’s Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation. Desmond was awarded a MacArthur Genius grant in 2015 for his ground-breaking work on the impact of eviction. His book, Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City was named one of the top books of 2016 by dozens of organizations and publications ranging from The NY Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal to Buzzfeed. Desmond is a professor of social science at Harvard University.

The Ready-Set-SOAR (RSS) Graduate School Conference is a one-day event hosted by UCI Student Outreach and Retention.The goal of RSS Graduate School Conference is to foster a supportive community of graduates, professionals, and undergraduates to assist prospective students who are interested in pursuing graduate school. This conference aims to empower historically underrepresented, low-income, or first-generation students by providing them the knowledge and tools to develop professional and educational goals.

Who: Any undergraduate student who is interested in pursuing graduate school is welcome to attend.

What: A one-day conference where students will choose from a variety of graduate school preparation workshops to attend and network with graduate students and professionals.

Trinh Mai Open Studio & Gallery Visit (Friday, March 3rd from 1:30-3:30 p.m., departure from UCI at 12:45 p.m.)

Join CHP and Asian American Studies on a trip to Grand Central Art Center in downtown Santa Ana! Artist-in-Residence Trinh Mai welcomes students to come see her art and talk about her creative process. We will be touring her art studio and her War Wounds exhibit. Mai is also the Visual Arts Designer and resident artist for UCI’s Vietnamese American Oral History Project.
