Staying on Campus for Thanksgiving?

If you will be on campus for Thanksgiving and would like to be part of a Thanksgiving Feast, Ted Wright, CHP Faculty Director, will be hosting a traditional turkey dinner extravaganza on November 23rd for family and friends and would love to have up to four CHP students share in the festivities. NAR’s Fall Issue Unveiling

Come to the unveiling of NAR’s Fall Issue from 6:30-7:30 pm on Monday, November 20th, in the Locus!  Check out some amazing written and visual works created by your fellow CHP students and see which yummy-looking photo won the Food-ography Contest! Fall 2017 Faculty Coffee Hour is this week!

Looking for an easy way to interact with faculty? Want a free breakfast while you’re at it? Come out to Faculty Coffee Hour the Friday of week 7, from 9-11 AM in The Locus. This is the perfect opportunity for you to have a conversation with a professor over some donuts and coffee. Some of the faculty that have already RSVP’d are the Associate Dean of Engineering, Michael Green, Professor A.J. Shaka, Professor Jeff Barrett, and many more! We hope to see you there!

We are still looking for volunteers, so if you can help with setup, cleanup, and greeting professors, please let us know via this form!

Dinner for Anteaters: CHP Edition

Dinner for Anteaters

You may have heard of Dinners for Anteaters, a UCI tradition where UCI alumni provide a meal for current UCI students and engage them in good conversation and mentorship.  This quarter CHP alumni Michael and Kimberly Ong are thrilled to host a dinner for CHP students.  Interested students should fill out the online interest form by 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 9.


Fresh Basic Needs Hub Tour

As of the 2015-2016 academic year, the Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR) Center has been looking to help students who struggle with food insecurity at UCI. Now with continued support from students and administration, SOAR is taking even bigger steps to take on food insecurity. This academic year has been the launch year of their newest facility, the Fresh Basic Needs Hub. As an expansion from the SOAR food pantry, the Fresh Basic Needs Hub provides food relief and security to those who need it. Come join your PAA, Fernando, for a tour of their location and see all they have to offer! The Hub has studying and eating spaces, chef resource hours, emergency supplies for students, and much more. The tour will take place on Tuesday Nov. 14 at 3pm. The group will meet in the Locus at 2:45pm to walk over to the location. If you are interested, come into the CHP office to secure your spot. Spots are limited, so sign up as soon as possible!!


Honors Chemistry Study Groups

Honors Chemistry Study Groups is a program held by the Academic Chairs of CHSC in which CHP Students in Honors Chemistry can get together in organized study groups with peers and peer leaders who have done well in the course. The peer leaders will be answering any questions about concepts that you’re going over in Honors Chem and helping to facilitate study groups for studying or tackling Tuffys.

The program is planned to start during Week 6 on either Wednesday or Thursday for a one hour session. 

Please fill out this Doodle with your availability so that we can best see which date is best for you. The program would be at an Honors Study Room in the library, the Locus, or an Honors Hall depending on size of the groups (TBA until Doodle is filled). Feel free to bring along friends.

The Honors Housing Tour

Wednesday, November 8, 6:15-7:45 p.m.

Location: Meet at the Locus (1020 Student Services 2) by 6:05 p.m.

All of you know that a major perk of being in the CHP is guaranteed on-campus housing! But a lot of you may not know how to take advantage of this great opportunity, which is why the PAAs will be holding a housing tour to various on-campus communities including the honors houses in Arroyo Vista. There will also be opportunities to tour Camino, Puerta Del Sol, Vista Del Campo, and VDC Norte.  The tour will be on Wednesday, November 8th from 6:15-7:45pm.  Please meet the PAAs at the Locus 10 minutes before the tour starts. The 2018-2019 housing application opens on November 17th, so by attending our tour you will be familiarized with the on-campus communities!

The CHP advising staff will be hosting Drop-in Advising to assist YOU with your enrollment/course scheduling questions. A Study Abroad Peer Advisor will also be available to provide more information about how to study abroad and/or conduct research abroad as part of the CHP. PIZZA will be provided!
