Junior-level students with a demonstration for financial need and plan to enter a master’s or doctoral program in the arts, humanities or social sciences may apply to the Beinecke Scholarship. This scholarship seeks highly motivated students to pursue opportunities in these fields.

Donald A. Strauss Foundation1/22/18 at NOON

Sophomore and junior undergraduates may apply to the Strauss foundation and receive $15,000 to fund their service project. Must demonstrate an interest in public service, outstanding leadership potential, and wish to make a difference in their local, regional, or national communities.

Saturday Academy of Law is hiring TAs

December 4, 2017

UC Irvine School of Law is deeply committed to diversity in the legal profession. The Saturday Academy of Law (“SAL”) is an opportunity to expose a diverse group of students to the legal profession while helping them improve their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Currently, they are looking for dedicated undergraduate students to serve as Teaching Assistants to help facilitate the lesson plan for the students. In the classroom, students learn a series of Supreme Court Cases pertaining to First Amendment rights in school and evaluate a hypothetical case at the end of the session. Students and TA’s also have the opportunity to network with local lawyers and judges who present to the class.

Diversity & Student Empowerment Program

Interested in earning course credit while learning about diversity, race, inclusion, and Social Justice?

Want to affect positive change on your campus through research, policy, or programming?

Apply to join the Student Empowerment Program!

All students/all majors welcome.

In its 5th year, the Diversity & Student Empowerment Program (SEP) is designed in collaboration with students, faculty and staff to provide a space where students can connect across differences, learn from each other about both their different and common perceptions and campus experiences, and work together to positively impact UCI’s campus climate. Students will work to address issues of diversity and campus climate through the development, proposal, and implementation of student-led projects (research, policy, or programming). SEP is a year-long program and is open to any student at UCI

If selected, you will earn 2 – 4 units of upper-division course credit while participating with a diverse group of peers to learn about diverse perceptions and experiences. Topics covered will include: race, gender, sexual identity, disability, citizenship, religion, and more.

You will collaborate to develop and implement a project of your choice (either research, policy or programming) intended to improve diverse relations and campus climate at UCI.

Class meeting time will be Wednesdays 3:00 – 5pm, beginning Winter quarter and continuing through Spring quarter.Independent project implementation will begin in summer or fall.

Abstracts are being accepted for poster display and breakout sessions for University of California Global Health Day. Students and researchers from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The submission deadline is December 8, 2017. Travel funds are available for accepted student presenters.

The UCI Student Housing Resident Advisor (RA) application will open on Friday, December 1, 2017.  The RA role (and Honors RA in particular) is crucial to building community on campus.  If you love UCI and want to make a difference, then consider applying to be an RA.  If you’re interested in being an Honors RA and would like to learn more about how that role differs from the non-honors RA role, contact one of the current Honors RAs.  More information about the position responsibilities and requirements can be found online.
