The Teaching Artist Project
The Teaching Artist Project brings teaching artists into elementary classrooms to deliver high-quality, sequential, standards-based arts lessons. Each kindergarten, first, and second grade classroom will receive nine lessons with a dance teaching artist, nine lessons with a theatre teaching artist, and nine lessons with a visual art teaching artist. K-2 Teacher Workshop: August 31, 2009
The San Diego Unified School District Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Department hosted a one-day professional development workshop for K-2 teachers participating in the Teaching Artist Project on August 31, 2009. Marty Stegeman, visual Art Resource Teacher, guided K-2 teachers through the nine lessons in visual art. Denise Lynne, Teaching Artist Project Coordinator for the San Diego Unified School District, led the dance workshop with K-2 teachers. See photos below.

Teaching Artist Project Workshop with Denise Lynne
Teaching artists from ArtsBridge America university-school partnership programs participated in a workshop with Denise Lynn on April 25, 2009. Participants gained the tools and resources necessary to integrate lessons and activities from the dance and theatre Teaching Artist Project in elementary classrooms in their communities across the country.
