Because I have not been a part of any other sustainability-focused groups in the past, I am thrilled to be able to participate in the UCI Costa Rica Program. From the development of our research to the execution of our outreach strategies, I plan on supporting and encouraging the other program members every step of the way. I hope to learn more about what it really means to be Costa Rican through our immersion. Additionally, I expect to learn much about sustainable development by engaging with various members of the Costa Rican communities we will be visiting. Ultimately, my goal is to simply broaden my perspective of the world so that I can become a more positively contributing member of society.

I am involved on campus with the Red Cross Club, the American Society of Civil Engineers UCI student chapter, and the ASCE Steel Bridge team. I also love to play soccer and go on outdoor adventures in my free time; I hope to do plenty of both while in Costa Rica. I feel so truly blessed to be a part of this unique program and I can’t wait to partake in all of the adventures and new experiences awaiting us in Costa Rica!
