Truong

My name is Truong and I am a Business Economics major specializing in International Issues. I am a first year student and currently reside in Mesa Court.

Coming from San Jose I chose to go to college in Southern California because I have a strong interest in trying new things. It is this same interest that has melded my passions for campus involvement, poverty alleviation, and understanding different cultures. Despite my limited experience in college I have been able to get involved with a myriad of organizations. I currently am an intern for the Anteaters in Action commission in ASUCI in which I do project management for a variety of service events that we host each quarter. Aside from this, I am also an active brother within Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity, and am a mentee in the Antleader Mentorship Program. As an eager first year, I was so ready for college that I decided to start college in the summer through the Freshman Edge program and am now a part of the Summer Session Leadership Development Program ( in preparations to become a international students summer mentor).

I am so appreciative to be a participant of the UCI Costa Rica Program and am eager to learn more about sustainability as well as do research surrounding sustainable business practices. After my summer excursion to Nicaragua where I spent 17 days with a group of students learning about the country’s culture and giving back to the community through service projects and teaching students English. From this trip, I gained a passion for studying the world economy and finding a way to improve the economy of impoverish countries. I cannot wait to learn, mature, and inspire throughout my duration in the Costa Rica program and take the knowledge gained back to my communities!
