Immediately following, the discussion will then transition into a First Year Poster info session with Nestor providing advice on best practices for poster presentations.

Geneva and Sarah will discuss funding available to students through Grad Division, guidelines for how to apply, and deadlines for SoE submissions and for finalists’ applications being sent out to Grad Division for consideration. Veronica Newhart will discuss her experience applying for MEP funding, specifics on how to put together a strong mentoring plan, and tips for applying to diversity fellowship funding.
2/7/2017, 12:00-1:00pm: Peer Mentor Brainstorm Session for Mentor Panel
First portion of meeting will discuss attendees’ responses to the online survey they received, regarding their experiences being mentored within our program. We will discuss ways in which we can provide a student mentor panel for SoE students to learn about what a healthy mentor-mentee relationship looks like and how to make changes when working habits and relationships could be structured better. Lastly, we will discuss mentors current progress working with their first-year mentees and offer suggestions for further improving their partnership.
