Keith Curry, Compton Community College District CEO, Named 2013 UC Irvine Distinguished Alumnus

School of Education alumnus Dr. Keith Curry was one of 18 distinguished alumni honored by the UC Irvine Alumni Association on May 16, 2013 during its 43rd Annual Lauds & Laurels Awards Ceremony. Dr. Curry, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Compton Community College District, is a 2011 graduate of the UCI/UCLA Joint Ed.D. in Educational Administration.

As Chief Executive Officer at Compton Community College District, Keith Curry oversees all departments and functions at the district. 

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Dr. Curry served as the dean of student services for the El Camino College Compton Center.

In his previous position as director of UC Irvine’s Early Academic Outreach Program, Dr. Curry recruited students from his hometown of Compton and then worked closely to ensure they were successful in their academic endeavors.

Dr. Curry funded a School of Education scholarship to benefit the research activities of doctoral students who demonstrate commitment and perseverance. He has given a similar scholarship at UC Santa Cruz, where he earned his undergraduate degree.

He is active in several professional and community organizations including the African-American Male Education Network Development, the Foundation for Compton Community College District, and the Association of California Community College Administators.
