UCI Emergency Procedures (aka the “Blue Flip Chart”)

Hopefully you are familiar with the UCI Emergency Procedures Guide (aka the “Blue Flip Chart”) that is posted all around campus. This informative guide explains what to do in the following situations:

  • Evacuation
  • Violence or Crime in Progress
  • Active Shooter
  • Utility Failure
  • Persons in Distress
  • Suspicious Package/Mail
  • Hazardous Material Incidents
  • Hazardous Material Shelter In Place
  • Evacuation of Persons with Disabilities, Access or Functional Needs
  • Blood Exposure and Medical Emergency
  • Bomb Threats
  • Fire
  • Earthquake
  • Emergency Preparedness

Take time to familiarize yourself with each of the sections so you know what to do, who to call, and how to respond in an emergency.

Blue flip charts should be posted near all exits, in offices, housing units, and in other public areas on campus.

The most current edition is dated August 2011. The entire UCI Emergency Procedures guide can be viewed online here: http://police.uci.edu/awareness/docs/UCI_EmerProc.pdf

With the start of the school-year upon us please take a moment to make sure these are posted appropriately in your workplace. To order extra flip charts for your department please contact Linda Bogue, the campus Emergency Services Manager, at lbogue@uci.edu.
