June 11, 5 PM, CA 48 Congressional District Update

Of the 200,107 votes to be counted after Election Day in all of Orange County, 46% have now been counted.

In all of Orange County, a total of 461,710 residents voted, which was 31.2% of registered voters.

In the CA 48th district, the current count is:

Republican Dana Rohrabacher:  40,703.  30.6%

Democrat Hans Keirstead:  23,077.  17.3%

Democrat Harley Rouda:  22,705.   17.0%

Republican Scott Baugh:  21,467.   16.1%

Second place Democrat Rouda is behind first place Democrat Keirstead by 372 votes, or 1.6% of Keirstead’s vote.

Scott Baugh is behind Keirstead by 1,610 votes or 7.0% of Keirstead’s vote total.

In the  48th, there are now 71,038 Republican votes, or 53.3%.  There are now 60,961 Democratic votes, or 45.8%.

In the 48th, 133,182 votes have now been counted.  On Election Day, 105,318 votes had been counted.  The count after Election Day in the 48th is now 27,864, or 26.5% of the count on Election Day.

Considering that we do not know how the votes left to count are distributed in different districts, we cannot use the counting data to predict how many are left to count in the 48th itself.  There would be no justification at all for predicting that about an equal amount of extra votes, about 30,000, are left to count in the district.  I would never say that.

There are still 107,664 votes to count in all of Orange County.
