Some time after 1am, one of the network blades in our primary Cisco router for the OIT DC failed.  OIT staff were notified and people were on-site after 2am.  The problem blade was identified and replaced around 5am.

Sites@UCI was rebooted at 6:15 am and service was restored.

OIT already had a plan to replace the aging Cisco router in the OIT DC and has placed an order for new Cisco equipment.  OIT will review our monitoring and response procedures to see how we can improve our handling of these situations.

Using Prose

1. Go to Appearance > Themes and search for Prose
2. Click Live Preview to see how it will look. (It’s very plain out of the box.)
3. Click Activate to make it the active theme.
4. Go to Genesis > Design Settings to start configuring the design to your liking.
5. Also make sure to look at Genesis > Theme Settings to set up the default layout, breadcrumbs, and other extras.

If you have a Private Site and want to add additional users, make sure the give them a role of Subscriber-PrivateSite or higher.

Note: Sites@UCI Network Administrators can access blogs and sites for support and development purposes regardless of Privacy setting.

This new tool makes it easy to create multiple slideshows that can be inserted into Posts, Pages and even Widget areas.

The Slideshow tool has many settings to help you create the slideshow you want. If you know CSS, you can even adjust the styles to customize it even more.

Note: This plugin is replaces Portfolio Slideshow, which has been deprecated. If you have created slideshows using Portfolio Slideshow, they will still work for now. However, we recommend creating new ones using this tool. It’s easier, more flexible, and more powerful.

Envisioning journalism as a platform for humanitarian advocacy, the UCI Human Rights Journal strives to promote a more globally-conscious culture on campus and inspire students to activism. The Journal seeks to accomplish this by providing a forum to nuance the conversation on human rights through articles that incorporate a wide array of narratives. Currently, the Journal is also exploring the potential of multimedia submissions, ranging from short films to photograph series.

Established through support from the 2012-2013 UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship, Dalai Lama Fellows, and UCI Alternative Media, the Journal is an interdisciplinary initiative that unites students, faculty, and staff from a variety of academic backgrounds.
