This is a blog for uci humanities faculty to discuss the infrastructural and intellectual challenges that face the school of humanities. It is my hope that we can vigorously debate academic and institutional issues while developing new strategies of engagement with the structural and fiscal problems that we face. There is immense disagreement as to how  to best use the limited resources available to us…..Can this blog be a place where we develop a few ideas about what we would like to see in our school? How can we better work together? What are the best forms of collaboration? How can we air our differences productively and responsibly? Can we develop some areas of real solidarity or collaboration that allow us to defend the mission of our school? What are some of our most serious problems? These are questions I would like to raise in the context of a responsible discussion that includes robust critique and dissent.
