It’s that time of year again! Recruiting weekend will be March 10-12. Mark it on your calendar! Big events include dinner at Steelhead on the 10th (6pm-ish) and a Beach Bonfire on the 11th (Aliso Beach, 4:30pm). Please get in touch with Judy or Lynn if you are able to help out with Buddies!
We had a great meeting with Dean Stern on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Thanks to all who attended! We hope to do some more Q&A events like this in the future, let us know if there’s anyone in particular that you’d like to have a conversation with.

Congratulations to the many Informatics grad students and faculty whose work has been accepted to CSCW 2010! It looks like we will have an impressive showing in Hangzhou, China this upcoming March. Indeed, too many to list before the break!
We, and the department, look forward to celebrating this and other achievements at the Informatics happy hour each Friday. Hope to see you this afternoon in 6011. Please help keep us up to date with any future celebration-worthy news (publications, grants, fellowships, etc.) by sending an email to any of the IGSA board members. Thanks!

Steve’s conference calendar has been passed around lately, and discussed a lot. It is great to add to your Google Calendar, and includes many of the micro-deadlines we care about (“When are reviews due?”). Check it out here.
Have your own conference calendar that you think is awesome? Let us know!
IGSA welcomes two new reps:
First Year PhD Students: Lynn Dombrowski
Masters Students: Alberto Pareja-Lecaros
Thank you for your service this year!
1st IGSA is looking for individuals to represent 1st Year PhD and Masters students. The experience of these two groups of students is sufficiently different from other graduate students, that we want to make sure their voices are heard. If you are a 1st Year PhD or Masters student, then consider nominating yourself.
Are you a graduate student who is either a 1st Year PhD student or a Masters student? Then you!
To nominate yourself or others, add you name to the wiki page below:
