Welcome to UCI Informatics!

Welcome to Irvine, California! Whether you are moving from a place far away or a city nearby, we hope you are settling in and enjoying all that autumn in California has to offer. IGSA represents Informatics graduate students at the University of California, Irvine.

IGSA has the following goals:

  • advocate for graduate student needs to the department
  • build community in the Informatics department
  • promote informal peer support
  • encourage faculty-student interaction.

We will open this fall quarter with a rooftop meet and greet with donuts! Details will be added shortly.

Twice each month, IGSA will host an informal coffee hour where students can catch up with one another and take a break from work. We also coordinate other social events so you can get to know your classmates and other students in the program!

Many positions will be open in IGSA elections! We encourage you to run for a position and help organize events for fellow students!

Dan Gardner I like to eat food with people and do activities. If elected, I will try to convince the IGSA to even more things than they already do that involve eating, with people, while doing activities. I have been known to host board game nights and such myself, and can't promise that won't leak into my official duties.

Communications Chair

Amanda Cullen
Hello y’all! If you don’t know me, I’m a second-year PhD student with the energy and the time to devote to IGSA activities. As Communications Chair, I will keep IGSA members informed of items of interest that are external to the department in addition to providing updates about internal events and promoting IGSA on social media. I have grown to seriously love this department and the community that I’ve found here, so I want to be involved! Come find me on Twitter (@AmandazonUCI) and Facebook!

When you think of IGSA you think of coffee, right? As a well known coffee connoisseur, I will use my personal home roasting and brewing equipment to deliver a coffee drinking experience unlike any other.
