Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 43 miles (about 69.2 kilometers) from UC Irvine, and about a one-to-two hour drive from the UC Irvine campus.

Leaving this airport at any time between 3pm and 8pm on a weekday can potentially inflate this drive time to nearly 2 hours. While this is the largest airport in Southern California, it is also the busiest, with long security lines, and long baggage wait times. Taxis, shuttles, and rental cars are all available. This airport is only recommended for international flyers.

Orange County Airport (SNA) is the recommended airport. This is the closest airport to UC Irvine at only about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) away. Orange County Airport is also referred to as John Wayne Airport.

Long Beach Airport (LGB) is 24 miles away. Long Beach Airport is about a 30-45 minute drive from UCI (barring heavy traffic).

Ontario International Airport (ONT) is 46 miles from UCI. Ontario Airport is at least an hour drive to campus.
