This is a rare opportunity for you to leverage your classwork in
engineering and manufacturing experience to become an Applications
Engineer with a manufacturer of engineered aerospace products within a
two year period. Following a formal Applications Engineering training
program, you will travel the U.S. and Europe 25% of the time, assessing
customer requirements for products, evaluating designs, making technical
presentations, using 3D modeling for design feasibility and performance,
and strengthening relationships with customers. Their customers include
a long list of Fortune 500 corporations in the aerospace, farm
equipment, construction, transportation, and material handling
industries. The atmosphere is unstructured and freewheeling, allowing
plenty of opportunities for career advancement. Because this is a
dynamic, rapidly changing company, serious opportunities for career
growth abound. This new training program will include exposure to
manufacturing methods, one year in design engineering, one year in
applications engineering, travel to a number of corporate manufacturing
sites, materials research, seminars on team building, and on making
presentations, and more. You can complete your BSME program nights on
the company tab. The salary ranges between $45,000 for light experience

five or more years of work experience outside of academia (manufacturing
preferred), some college engineering coursework, “roots in Los Angeles”,

Faculty Position – WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Wayne State University seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level, with appointment beginning in Fall 2012. This position is part of a multi-year plan for Departmental growth in its strategic research areas.

The position is open to all areas of mechanical and related engineering, but particularly to energy/combustion/engine related areas, including demonstrated teaching and research.  Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Applicants should have the potential to develop a nationally recognized, externally-funded research program, and have strong oral and written communications skills.  The selected candidate is expected to provide inspiration and leadership in research and contribute proactively to teaching and to the diversity of the academic community.

Our Department offers an excellent research environment, with state-of-the-art laboratories in the new 82,000 sq. ft. Danto Engineering Development Center.  Our  external funding has recently grown to approximately $5  million/year, with strong multi-disciplinary research and educational efforts in energy, advanced combustion, alternate fuels, and related areas.  WSU in general has a strong focus in interdisciplinary research, with opportunities to collaborate with outstanding faculty in Engineering, Medicine, Science, and Pharmacy.

Opportunity for highly recommended Mechanical and Process engineering candidates

Clean Energy Fuels is currently looking for two LNG engineers to help
support our LNG fueling station build-out across the country. Attached
is the job posting for candidates. Originally, we were seeking individuals with a civil
engineering background (as seen in the posting), but my boss (Vice
President of Engineering) has recently switched and is now looking for
individuals who can grasp the mechanical, thermodynamic, and process
concepts associated with transfer, storage, and delivery of Liquefied
Natural Gas. We are looking for individuals with some experience (3-5
years) in the industrial/petrochemical process field. MS level may also apply.
