Join the Graduate Program at Colorado State University!

Published by under Uncategorized

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University (www.engr.colostate.edu/me) is currently undergoing a period of extraordinary growth.   Since 2006, we have hired 13 new faculty members with expertise in areas that include tissue engineering, biomaterials, biomechanics, biofluids, algal biofuels, hybrid electric vehicles, electric propulsion, computational fluid dynamics, organic aerosols, and natural gas engines.  Our new building, Engineering II, is scheduled to open in Fall 2013, providing opportunities in biomaterials and biomechanics, and the Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory recently broke ground on an $18.5 million expansion for the new Powerhouse Energy Institute (www.eecl.colostate.edu ).

In addition to these strengths in fundamental research, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU has continued its unique focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and achieving global impact by engaging with all sectors of the economic pyramid.   In the past 5 years, our departmental research has been directly transformed into successful startup companies including Solix BioSystems (www.solixbiofuels.com) and Envirofit International (www.envirofit.org).

The unique research and entrepreneurial atmosphere at Colorado State University has helped catapult Fort Collins, Colorado to No. 3 in the nation in a recent study by the Milken Institute on the U.S. Best Performing Cities, which included factors such as jobs, wages, and technology performance.    And, in terms of quality of life, Fort Collins is routinely listed among the Top 10 Best Places to Live by Money Magazine.

As is the case with all research institutions, our recent success would not be possible without our cadre of capable and dedicated graduate students.  Our recent growth has resulted in increased opportunities for new graduate students.  Attached as a pdf file you will find a brochure that contains information on how to learn more about applying to our department, along with some messages from our grad students on their activities at CSU.

GE/Gannon MS Program in ME

Published by under Uncategorized

We have 2 immediate openings in ME for semester starting on January 8,2012. Please read below.
Here is an excellent opportunity for graduating seniors in ME.
Gannon University in conjunction with GE Transportation has been
offering an unique program for MS in Mechanical Engineering since 1997.
The student works at GE Transportation located in Erie, PA on various
projects 19 hours per week during the semester and 40 hours per week
during the summer.
GE pays the graduate tuition, books, and fees for the student in
addition to a salary of $30,000 per year.
Each student works under the direction of a GE Transportation mentor
(manager/engineer) and a Gannon faculty mentor.
After student completes his MS in about 1.5 to 2 years, GE will make an
offer to the student, of course, based on their performance. There is no
obligation on either party after graduation.
So far more than 250 students have completed the program. Except for
2000 (when a large number of students graduated), 95% of the students
have been offered job after graduation by GE. More than 59% of them are
still working with GE.
*Currently we have 2 opening for students starting this spring.
