Sensing the World with Fabrics and Fashion

Miniature sensors, electronics and computers are being incorporated into our watches, phones, clothes, household products and even our art exhibits. Sensors that detect motion, light, sound – or even smoke particles – have been around for centuries, but now they can be purchased and programmed by makers and students… not just engineers!

What You Will Do:
See examples of “wearable technology”
Learn about the types of sensors available and creative uses for them Design and create a project with textiles and electronics
See industrial sewing machines
Practice basic soldering skills
Design and construct a simple circuit
Learn how traditional art schools are integrating technology into their classes

TUITION: Cost $25 per girl includes all project materials and light snack. Scholarships are available.
