Travel awards

Travel Awards are offered to help offset the costs of attending the meeting. Awardees are granted up to US $1000 for round-trip travel to the conference and lodging.

Eligibility: Graduate students (awarded a primary degree and enrolled full-time for a post-graduate degree – Masters or Doctorate) or postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply.
Application: Email mechbio@uci.edu the following materials by July 12, 2018:

• An abstract (350 word max) for your proposed presentation.
• A brief statement describing why you are applying for a travel award.
• Nomination Letter – may be written by a professor, advisor, mentor, employer, or director of the department.

Process: The awardees are determined after review of application materials. Priority is given to support gender diversity, under-represented minority groups, or those with disabilities.

Childcare

While UCI does not provide on-site child care, attendees may apply in advance of the conference for a childcare supplements up to $200 to defray the costs of providing alternate childcare and summer camps. Applicants should email mechbio@uci.edu by July 12, 2018 a description of the childcare center/service contact information, dates of childcare, and the amount of the request.
