Hi and welcome. I am Hossein, aka “The Numer8or”.
I am born and raised in Zanjan, Iran to a large caring family of seven. I earned BSc and MSc in Fluid Dynamics and worked as an engineer for a few years before starting serious HPC work in PhD program. I moved to US in 2008, and currently I live in the ever-beautiful Orange County in Southern California.
High performance computing of fluids is my passion. However, every now and then I have also collaborated on random projects involving numerical techniques and modeling.
Job Experience / Academics
Senior Application Engineer (thermal management of electronics), ANSYS, 2019
Postdoc & Research Associate, University of California Irvine, 2014-2019
PhD. Fluid Mechanics, University of Delaware, 2014
CFD and thermal engineer, 2003-2008
MSc. Thermal-Fluid Mechanics, Tehran Polytechnic, 2003
BSc. Thermal-Fluid Mechanics, Tehran University, 2002
HPC and Other Trainings
I have received various HPC and scientific trainings via: Berkeley Lab., NASA, Ansys, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Oak Ridge National Lab., Texas Advanced Computing Center, and also other industry leaders (Intel and Nvidia among others).
Summer Schools
Using satellite observations to advance climate models 2017 Summer School, JPL / Caltech
Dynamical core model inter-comparison 2016 Summer School, NCAR
Multiphase Turbulent Flows in the Atmosphere and Ocean 2012 Workshop, NCAR
Road Trips
Road trips are my way of spending time in nature. If I am not computing or simulating anything, I am traveling :).
Here is a summary of the trips I have done in the US over the past years. These did not happen in single trips, instead the maps show the approximate locations/paths covered. The small branches (<80 miles) are removed.
Majority of these trips are made to visit national parks, sceneries and museums of any sort. This on-going journey is made possible by generous offers I’ve received from dear friends to stay and spend quality time with them.
Old days
More will come up soon …
