About Me

Priya J. Shah

Hello! My name is Dr. Priya J. Shah and I’m a lecturer in the Department of Women’s Studies here at UC Irvine. I received my Ph.D. in English Literature with emphases in Feminist and Asian American Studies from UCI in December, 2008. Since then, I’ve been teaching courses on gender, feminism, sexuality, fashion, media, globalization, the body, and colonialism at UC Irvine and California State University, Fullerton. My current research focuses on the utility of affective community building for social justice work and the genealogy of “Diva Orientalism” in colonial and globalized media.

You can reach me at: pjshah@uci.edu. My office hours during Fall Quarter, 2013, are Thursdays from 9:45-10:45am in Humanities Gateway 3023 and by appointment.
