Welcome to my research/personal page. My name is Ricardo Medina, I am a 4th year Ph.D. Civil Engineering candidate at the University of California, Irvine. I am currently working in Dr. Russ Detwiler’s Lab (Subsurface Processes Lab). My research project is aimed at improving the understanding of fundamental processes of suspended solids flowing through and settling inside fractured media (i.e. rock fractures). Through the use of innovative imaging methods and experimental setup I investigate the settling behavior of multi-phase multi-component suspensions inside fractures subjected to normal stresses.
