Who are we?

Our vision

  • Increase awareness of digital making and fabrication

  • Engage a diverse community of learners, entrepreneurs, makers, tinkerers, and innovators to foster a spirit of collaboration

  • Provide resources to Mobile Fab Lab users to support a culture of continuous learning inside and outside of the Lab.

  • Ensure an interdisciplinary program

  • Provide real world relevance by utilizing projects which incorporate the Design-Build-Test Process

  • Give end users the opportunity to create a tangible artifact that represents skills learned

  • Build a sustainable model that encourages peer-to-peer learning, knowledge sharing, and community ownership of the space.

Our style:

. . . and yes, we have style.

We believe that STEM learning relies on an open-ended experiential method. STEM preparation is key to empowering communities to successfully take on the 21st century with all the challenges it may present. Our motives revolve around producing and maintaining a sustainable model to bring together the community with the makerspace.

It is vital to the process of education to be in a comfortable space to learn something new, which, ironically, can be uncomfortable at times. The UCI Rocket Lab has a friendly staff and fun vibe, making it open to those who may be put-off when approaching rapidly advancing technologies. We aim to ensure that learners jump with enthusiasm and delight at the opportunities to experience new and exciting STEM equipment.

Our team:

Who are they?  you might ask.

They are individuals dedicated to empowering learners by embracing open-end STEM education. Most of them are attending, or are associated with the UCI Samueli School of Engineering, the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, and the OC STEM Initiative. The Rocket Lab team is proud to encourage open-ended STEM discovery,

. . .  Here are a few members.
