New LGBT Collections available now
Earlier we introduced our efforts to provide researchers with access to unprocessed collections. We will continue to share brief information about recently “exposed” collections here in the “New & Noteworthy Collections” blog. Below are a number of LGBT collections that are now available. MS-R122, George Raab Collection
This collection consists of material collected by George Raab, a resident of Laguna Beach, California, about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender causes from 1984-1996. Included are newsletters, correspondence, notes and newspaper clippings related to his involvement in those causes. There are also issues of The Newsletter, a publication of Laguna Outreach, Inc., ECCO, a publication of the Elections Committee of the County of Orange, and material on the Statewide Domestic Partnership Registration Bill. Extent 0.4 linear feet (1 box)
MS-R123, Art Balderrama Files on the 1988 AIDS Walk Orange County
This collection consists chiefly of Art Balderrama’s papers related to the 1988 AIDS Walk Orange County, for which he served on the Board of Directors. Also included are minutes of meetings of the Lesbian/Gay/Feminist Leadership Federation of Orange County (LGFFOC) and a document detailing opposition to Proposition 102. MS-R124, Dick Hitt Files on Gays and Lesbians in Orange County, California
This collection contains materials collected by Dick Hitt from 1978-2006, documenting gay and lesbian employees of Disneyland, California. Included are newsletters, flyers, reports, brochures, photographs, correspondence and printed and non-printed ephemera. Many document the activities of the PRIDE organization at Disney and other Disney Diversity related events and publications. Extent 0.4 linear feet (2 boxes)
MS-R136, Joan Ariel Collection of Lesbian Periodicals
This collection consists of lesbian and women’s liberation newsletters and journals from 1970-1994 accumulated by Joan Ariel, Women’s Studies Librarian and a Women’s Studies faculty member at the University of California, Irvine. Extent 0.6 linear feet (2 boxes)
