A new accession of style cards and ephemera has been added to the Fashion Frocks, Inc. style cards and other material (MS-P054) collection, part of our robust performing arts holdings. Nine style cards documenting wardrobe creations from the 1959 spring and summer Fashion Frocks collections were donated by UCI Professor Emerita of History Lynn Mally. Each card contains a fabric swatch illustrating the real-life quality of the garments depicted. Two of these cards are featured below.
Professor Mally specializes in 20th century Russian history and cultural history, particularly the history of fashion in the United States as it pertains to women over age 50. Her blog, American Age Fashion, spotlights this topic, showcasing historic and contemporary wardrobe trends that American women have favored from the early 20th century to today. See our earlier blog post on Professor Mally’s coverage of the Fashion Frocks collection.
This collection is open and available to researchers in our Reading Room on the 5th floor of Langson Library. For additional information, contact us at (949) 824-3947 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
