Here are some key questions to consider as you think about applying;

  1. Who is your faculty mentor?  (Mentors must be Academic Senate members, which basically means people with the titles Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Lecturer PSOE, Lecturer SOE, or Senior Lecturer SOE.  Contact us with any questions on mentor eligibility.)  To what extent have the two of you worked together?
  2. What is your background on the topic you intend to teach? What makes you qualified as a teacher of this topic?  Please note that UTeach seminars are not platforms for advocacy of particular political or other agendas; they should explore all sides of the issues they address.  UTeach seminars should in most cases be accessible to students of all majors and not significantly duplicate existing UCI courses.
  3. What should students learn from taking your class?  What will each week of your course look like and what will students take away from each week?  What should they be able to do after your class that they couldn’t do at the start?
