Thank you for your interest in the UTeach program. We encourage you to apply for the 2018-2019 academic year. We will open the application for this program during Spring Quarter 2018.
To apply, you must first attend one of our information sessions. The dates for Winter Quarter information sessions are to be announced, but will most likely take place after Week 7.For more information, please visit our FAQ section on How to Teach a UTeach Seminar or contact the UTeach Student Coordinator, Huitzi Contreras (email@example.com)
Here are some key questions to consider as you think about applying;
- Who is your faculty mentor? To what extent have the two of you worked together? (Mentors must be Academic Senate members: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Lecturer PSOE, Lecturer SOE, or Senior Lecturer SOE. Contact us with any questions on mentor eligibility.)
- What is your background on the topic you intend to teach? What makes you qualified as a teacher of this topic? Please note that UTeach seminars are not platforms for advocacy of particular political or other agendas; they should explore all sides of the issues they address. UTeach seminars should in most cases be accessible to students of all majors and not significantly duplicate existing UCI courses.
- What should students learn from taking your class? What will each week of your course look like and what will students take away from each week? What should they be able to do after your class that they couldn’t do at the start?
