Length of Stay Policy

Length-of-stay limits are dependent on move-in date, academic pursuit, and your veteran status:

Residents on a Month-to-Month contract: Current residents of Verano Place with an original housing contract date between May 31, 2002 and May 31, 2006 will be eligible to remain in residence until he/she has reached the published normal time to degree for the academic program in which he/she is enrolled. Residents with original contract dates prior to June 1, 2002 will not be affected by this length of stay limit.

Graduate Guaranteed Housing residents on leases who moved in 2006-2009:  Students placed through the graduate guaranteed housing program will be eligible to remain in residency until he/she has reached the published normal time to degree minus 1 year for Ph.D. and Prime-LC students; and two or three years for MFA students depending upon their program.

Graduate Guaranteed Housing residents on leases who moved in 2010 (or later): Students placed through the graduate guaranteed housing program will be eligible to remain in residency until he/she has reached the published normal time to degree for Ph.D. and Prime-LC students; and two or three years for MFA students depending upon their program.

Residents placed through Waitlist Placement on leases: Housing leases expire on June 30th of each year and are not guaranteed for renewal. Housing eligibility limit is the published normal time to degree minus 1 year for Ph.D., M.D. and Ed.D students; two years for terminal masters; and two or three years for MFA students depending upon their program. Residents may submit a request for lease renewal if he/she is within his/her housing eligibility limit. Requests for renewal are subject to review and approval and based on space availability.

Veteran, Reservist (Includes National Guard), or Active Duty Service Member: Normative time to degree or 4 years, whichever is greater.

Eligibility to remain in on-campus housing is contingent upon maintaining full-time student status, satisfactory progress towards degree requirements, and adherence to Housing and University policies.

If your original contract date is before June 1, 2002, you do not have any length of stay limits.
