DEREK MCVAY

Hello Verano neighbors!

As a husband, father, and graduate student who has lived in the Verano Place community for 4 years now, I have a strong desire to give back to this wonderful community through service on the Verano Resident’s Council. As a VRC member, I will listen to your issues, concerns, needs, and advocate with the housing office on your behalf. Additionally, I believe a successful VRC will meet the needs of the community by actively pursuing the following initiatives:

-Projects that improve the overall atmosphere of Verano Place in a sustainable and responsible manner

-Events that cater to the diverse nature of the housing community

-Various methods to maintain an open dialogue between residents and council members in addition to scheduled meetings

-Increasing transparency between residents and the housing office in a way that is easy to access and understand

I also want to hear what your suggestions are for improving life at Verano Place! Thank you for your consideration and participation!

KRISTIN ROHER

Hello everyone, I am currently a member of the VRC and, if re-elected, I will continue to advocate for your concerns and pursue existing projects and community improvements. This past year, the VRC successfully encouraged Verano to extend several sustainability initiatives as well as to develop an adequate plan for termite treatment with as minimal impact to residents as possible.

My background in sustainability related research will enable me to continue to advocate for developing more options for sustainability within the community. This past year, I worked to expand the existingcomposting initiative in Verano and will do so in the upcoming year. I will continue to advocate for more native plants throughout Verano in the scheduled landscaping renewal project.

With two successful years of planning social events on the AGS social committee and one year on the VRC, I am in a great position to plan events. If elected, I’ll continue to plan events that address the diverse population of residents in Verano including those that have been successful in the past (such as, welcome day, whine and cheese, lunar new year and yoga classes).

If elected, I will work to bring your concerns to the forefront and make positive changes within our community!

STEPHANIE PULLES

Hello Verano Community! My name is Stephanie Pulles and I am running to be your voice on the VRC. As a resident of the Verano community for the past five years, and as a prior VRC member, I believe it is up to the VRC to advocate for the concerns and needs of residents. If re-elected, I will dedicate myself to fighting for the issues you are passionate about. In meeting with neighbors and as a resident myself, I believe the following are necessary measures to put on the agenda this year:

– create more activities and events that are representative of the cultural and intellectual diversity of our community, such as our well-attended Lunar New Year event and co-sponsored community events
– expand communal programming and assets, such as yoga classes and the community garden
– develop sustainable options for daily maintenance and landscaping, such as expanding the compositing program and reducing water waste
– increase transparency in the communications and decision-making with the housing office to protect resident privacy, eliminate invasive procedures, and increase accountability so that residents are better informed in a timely manner about issues that impact our everyday life

More importantly, I want to hear what changes you would like to see in Verano! As a community, Verano Place has much potential for improvement. I want to be your voice in the VRC.

Please vote Stephanie Pulles for VRC!
