The workshop hotel has the unique advantage that it is right next to Fashion Island, which offers a large variety of restaurants in walking distance from the hotel (most of the hotels do not have such advantages), as well as shopping malls, grocery stores and theaters. It is also within walking distance to several beautiful beaches.

There will be buses provided by the workshop running from the conference hotel to the UCI student center in the morning and back in the evening. In addition, there is a direct OCTA bus connection (line 79) which runs frequently with the total travel time being about 30 minutes (including walking to/from the bus stops).

Rental cars are NOT necessary given the location of the hotel and the provided transportation. Furthermore, parking is rather expensive on campus ($10-$14 per day). Have more interactions with your fellow participants on the bus rides and be kind to our environment!

For participants not staying at the workshop hotel, you will need to arrange your own daily transportation between the hotel and UCI, as well as transportation after the workshop dinner to get back to your hotel. Please contact the organizers should you have questions concerning the logistics.

For those who are not able to get a room at Newport Marriott as all rooms have been sold out, here is the [link] to the information about alternative hotels in the area (note that you should choose from those in Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, or Santa Ana, which are closer to UCI; Laguna Beach is about 25-30min drive depending on the traffic, and others are even further). Note that while some of these hotels provide shuttle service, it is on the first-come-first-serve basis, and may be restricted to certain operating hours. In addition, most of these hotels may have only one or two restaurants within walking distance, if at all, and are located quite far from the conference hotel and conference dinner venue. So please use caution when choosing if you do not plan on renting a car.
