I led the human interface team with four team members. We designed and manufactured the human interface parts including the steering linkage, harness mounts, and brake system.

The design of the steering system was quite a challenge for me. I had to try and fit the steering columns into the cockpit without taking too much space of the driver’s leg and all the other components required to stay in a range specified by the competition rules.  Accomplishing this task required in-depth knowledge of the theory of U-joints and bearing systems.

UC Irvine Anteater Racing team ranked 35th out of 85 schools at the competition at Lincoln, Nebraska in 2016, improving its rank by almost 50 from the previous year.
