In an internship at Prime Wheel Corp. this summer,  I conducted research on strain gauging theories, principle stress test and fatigue test theories to establish the basic requirements for a wireless data acquisition system.  My colleagues and I reached out to different equipment vendors and selected suitable devices that saved the company approximately $70,000.

I performed Finite Element Analysis on the wheel models in CATIA V5 to simulate wheel impact, radial, and cornering tests. From the FEA results, I determined the critical point on the wheel to place the strain gauge. My colleagues and I then assembled the system we brought and conducted tests to verify its functionality.  Finally, we compared the test results to FEA results to verify the procedure.
