Dr. Krystal Tribbett has accepted the temporary position of UC Irvine Libraries 50th Anniversary Project Historian in Special Collections & Archives. Krystal has a B.A. in geology and Earth science from Vassar College and a M.A. as well as a Ph.D. in the History of Science from the University of California, San Diego, where she focused on the history of emissions trading and environmental justice and policy. She served as an oral history graduate student fellow at UCSD for their 50th anniversary history project, where she did background research, facilitated conversations, and advised a graduate course on the history of the university. Krystal also served as an oral history assistant for the IEEE Supercomputing Conference, a consultant for a digital literacy curriculum development project, a research assistant for renewable energy technologies for the Rady School of Management, and on aerosol policy history at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She also served as a lecturer and teaching assistant for a variety of courses at UCSD including the history of science, technology, and culture.
Krystal will be a key contributor to the 50th Anniversary Historical Documentation Project. She will conduct research, provide expertise and facilitate a major oral/video history project documenting the diversity of UC Irvine, provide written content for publications, participate in curatorial efforts including digitization and exhibits, and also participate in instruction and outreach activities related to the rich 50-year history of our campus. Her appointment will end on June 30, 2016.
