About Me

UPDATE: I have accepted a faculty position at the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) in Mnagement Sciences, part of the management sciences and marketing division, and I have started my job in August, 2021. AMBS is part of the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

I am a PhD candidate in Operations and Decision Technologies, also known as “Operations Research”, at the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California Irvine. I am working with two wonderful advisors, John Turner and Luyi Gui. I am honored to currently serve as the president of PhD students association at Merage School of Business, and to represent our students on the PhD committee.

With a prospective graduation in Spring 2021, I am on the Job Market this year, pursuing research and teaching positions both as a faculty member and as a postdoctoral researcher.

Having completed my undergraduate studies in Industrial and Systems Engineering, I received my B.Sc. degree from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in June 2013. I then moved to Istanbul, Turkey, and had the honor of obtaining my M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from the College of Engineering, KoƧ University in July 2015. I was advised by Professor Emre Alper Yildirim.

In recent years, my research has mostly centered on developing mathematical models to help high-level decision makers to improve operations in their organizations. Theory-wise, I primarily have worked with combinatorial optimization models, distributed optimization, algorithm design, and machine learning techniques. Application-wise, I have been involved in projects in sports analytics and resource sharing and resource exchange in multi-agent systems (e.g., alliance of production and service companies). I have an extensive experience as recitation leader and teaching assistant for various courses including Management Science, Predictive Analytics, Analytical Decision Making, Operations Management, and Statistics during my graduate studies for the past 7 years.

In Summer 2019, I worked with the yield trial optimization and data science teams at Bayer Crop Science (Saint Louis, Missouri) as an intern scientist where I helped developing two algorithms for efficiently allocating large volume of seeds in different stages to seed processing centers in the US.
