Star Party at Griffith Observatory, LA! (2/29)

The Astronomy Club at UCI is taking a trip together to Griffith Observatory at L.A! The observatory is hosting a Star Party (where a bunch of people take out telescopes and volunteer them to the public eye on the observatory’s front lawn) on February 29th from 2pm to 10pm.

Admission to the observatory is free, and the trip with the club is free, but they have shows, exhibits, food, and a gift shop so have cash ready to go! If you’re interested in attending, or you’re willing to drive (we will reimburse drivers), please sign up HERE! We’d love to see you there!

Come Volunteer with us at Cadence Elementary! (2/12)

Cadence Elementary is having its first Astronomy Night on February 12th, from 7 pm to 9 pm! The Astronomy Club at UCI would like to help out, so if you’re interested in getting some volunteer work under your belt, we’d love to have you join!

We are looking for people willing to assist Rohit Chopra (our telescope operator) on a telescope, help with hands-on activities, help with a presentation/trivia, and to help with carpooling members to the event. Please let us know ASAP if you’re interested, since we can only have so many people volunteer!

Come camping with us at Joshua Tree! (2/15 – 2/16)

From February 15th to 16th this year, the Astronomy Club at UCI will be taking a cabin trip at Joshua Tree National Park! This will be a great opportunity to socialize with your fellow astronomers, and as always a great place to get away from the light pollution to get a clearer,  better view of the stars!

We can only take a certain amount of people, so sign up soon if you want in! The club will be charging a $70 fee to attend, but that will cover all major costs like your entrance fee into the park, the cost of the cabin, the cost of transportation (we will reimburse drivers, and they will get first pick on beds upon arrival), food, etc. Of course, you’re welcome to bring what you’d like, such as if you have a personal telescope at home.

If you’d like to sign up, use this link to let us know you’re coming! Spots are limited and are granted on a first-come-first-serve basis, so sign up soon!
