Dr. Rachel Gurlin successfully defends doctoral thesis

Family, friends, type 1 diabetes advocates, colleagues and the UCI community at large packed into the Harut Barsamian Colloquia Room to attend Dr. Rachel Gurlin’s thesis presentation.  Above, members of BEAMS lab, Rachel’s chair, Professor Elliot Botvinick, and committee members, Professor Christopher Hughes and Professor Bernard Choi, pose with the freshly minted PhD.  Rachel will continue her work towards curing type 1 diabetes as a post doctoral scholar in the Shuvo Roy Lab at UCSF.  Congratulations Rachel!
