The First-Generation Becoming an Earth & Environmental Scientist program (First-Gen BEES) is a multi-day workshop (virtual in 2021; in person every spring and fall afterward) designed to teach some of the unwritten rules about college, graduate school, and “Becoming an Earth and Environmental Scientist”.
First-Gen BEES was developed and produced by Dr. Patrick A. Rafter and Dr. Katherine R. M. Mackey, both part of UCI’s Department of Earth System Science.
The one-day events are shaped around having an informative about Earth Science, becoming a scientist, careers in Earth Science (both academic and private), and more.
