Title: Structured Prior-Knowledge in Systems Biology

Abstract: Research aims in modern computational biology often involve the exploration of multiple, alternative systems-level representations. Often, the scope of such models (or the practicality of exploring competing representations) is limited by the availability of prior knowledge. Unfortunately, the depth and scale of existing biological knowledge precludes traditional approaches to literature review, causing a bottleneck in collaborative work. I will review current resources designed to make access to this information more efficient, and provide an example implementation of a unified knowledge retrieval pipeline based on the semantic web.
