Title: Early Brain Changes in Mouse Models of Alzheimer’s Disease and Drug Addiction

Abstract: In the progression of AD, changes in the brain occur before cognitive deficits are detectable. To better understand these early changes at a cellular resolution, we profiled gene expression and open chromatin in 2 brain regions of 5xFAD mice at 2, 4, and 8 months of age. In a separate project, we utilized genetic modification in concert with single-nucleus ATAC + RNA sequencing to identify differences between neurons activated during exposure to morphine, and those that were not activated. If time permits, we will also discuss results from other projects concerning cocaine and a variety of drugs of abuse.
