WordPress 2.9 Update

You may have noticed a few small changes to your UCI blog. We have updated our WordPress installation to the latest update, code-named Carmen. Besides the under-the-hood technical enhancements, there are three new features that will make blogging easier.

  1. Global Undo/”Trash” Feature
If you accidentally delete a post or comment, you can now retrieve it. Instead of being deleted immediately, it will be moved to the Trash. This will also remove the little “are you sure” messages you used to see when deleting posts or comments. Items will remain in the trash for 30 days, so be sure to retrieve them during this time if you want them back.

  2. Built-in Image Editor
This new tool allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip and scale your images within WordPress. Look for the “Edit Image” button after uploading an image or when editing an image in your Media Library.

  3. Easier Video Embeds
We have a plug-in that makes it easy to embed videos from YouTube, Google Video, Vimeo, etc. Now, WordPress has this feature built-in. Simply paste a URL from YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv and WordPress will take care of the rest for you. We will keep the other plug-in available for now.

If you notice any problems with the new update, please let us know. We have tested the basic blog functions and things appear to be working well.
