My name is Chris Addiego. I am currently a Data Scientist at EAG Laboratories working on automation and data analysis for electron microscopy.
I earned my PhD in Physics from University of California, Irvine in 2021. I primarily studied perovskite ferroelectric materials using advanced scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) diffraction, imaging, and spectroscopy techniques. I specialized in using four-dimensional STEM to look at the interplay of the atomic lattice, local electric field, and charge density in ferroelectric heterostructures. In 4D STEM, we capture a full convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) pattern for every position of the scanning probe. Using the CBED pattern as a momentum space map of the electron probe, we can calculate the electric field and charge density inside the sample.
