The Chaput lab would like to congratulate our very own undergraduate, Lynnette Jackson, for her award in the UCI Minorities Science Program (MSP), funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for summer 2016 and the academic years of 2016-2018! Lynnette shall be conducting research for the Minority Biomedical Research Support – Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (MBRS-IMSD) as to better support and stimulate academic growth while providing students, such as herself, with research experience. Her proposed research project is structural studies that further investigate the mechanism of unnatural nucleotide replication in engineered DNA polymerases, in which she will be working closely and under the guidance of Nicholas Chim, Facilities Manager in the Chaput Lab.
During this fellowship, we know that Lynnette will be working hard and greatly help the Chaput lab look further into TNA polymerases and their activity. We also look forward to seeing her research results and findings be formally presented at the MSP Summer Research Symposium on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016.
Congratulations again to Lynnette!
