We are pleased to announce the AbbVie Scholars Symposium 2021. Although our outlook with respect to the pandemic is looking increasingly positive, we have decided to hold this year’s symposium virtually as well in order to ensure the safety of our scholars and AbbVie attendees. This year’s event will be held on August 25th and 26th. The AbbVie Scholars Symposium provides an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present their research, learn about careers in industry, and interact with AbbVie scientists. The scientific program will feature talks by AbbVie scientists from Discovery and Process Chemistry. The event will also include a virtual tour of the AbbVie facilities and informal interactions with AbbVie scientists and other participants. Student attendees will have the opportunity to present their research in 10-minute online oral presentations.
We are requesting that UC Irvine nominate one individual to participate at the Symposium. At AbbVie we value diversity and inclusion, and we ask that you consider keeping a diverse perspective in your nomination selection process. Eligible candidates will have:
- A research project in synthetic or medicinal chemistry with sufficient body of work for a 10-minute oral presentation
- A career interest in the pharmaceutical industry (or at least an interest in finding out more about what we do)
