EWOC Virtual Symposium – Oct 8

Empowering Women in Chemistry (EWOC) Boston, SoCal, NorCal, and Midwest chapters are hosting a Joint Chapter Virtual Symposium on Oct 8th from 12-1:30 PST!

There will be Scientific Spotlight Talks from industry & academic professionals, Flash Research Talks by graduate students/postdocs, and a networking session to learn more about the research shared by speakers. Everyone is welcome!

First Official ISP Meeting of the Quarter! (Oct 4)

We would like to invite all women in chemistry to the October Iota Sigma Pi Meeting. This will be our first meeting of the school year! This will be a meeting with an opportunity to network with other women in chemistry and plan outreach and professional development events for the new year. There will be both an in-person and virtual option.

Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program – Due Nov 10

The Department of Energy (DOE) is pleased to announce that its Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is now accepting applications for the 2021 Solicitation 2.

The SCGSR program supports supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to conduct part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE national laboratory in collaboration with a DOE laboratory scientist for a period of 3 to 12 consecutive months—with the goal of preparing graduate students for scientific and technical careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission.

The SCGSR program is open to current Ph.D. students in qualified graduate programs at accredited U.S. academic institutions, who are conducting their graduate thesis research in targeted areas of importance to the DOE Office of Science. The research opportunity is expected to advance the graduate students’ overall doctoral thesis/dissertation while providing access to the expertise, resources, and capabilities available at the host DOE laboratories. The supplemental award provides for additional, incremental costs for living and travel expenses directly associated with conducting the SCGSR research project at the DOE host laboratory during the award period.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm EST on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

DECADE Mentor & DECADE Donuts – Oct 6 (Time Change)

Dear New and Continuing Chemistry Graduate Students,

I wanted to introduce myself as the Chemistry department DECADE mentor. The DECADE program focuses on graduate admissions, mentoring current students, and engaging faculty with the graduate student population to create an inclusive environment.
