Janssen is now accepting applications for the inaugural Janssen Discovery Chemistry Graduate Research Symposium, which will be held June 8 – 9, 2022 at the Janssen Research & Development campus in Spring House, PA. This 1.5 day event will recognize exceptional graduate students and showcase career opportunities within Janssen Discovery Chemistry teams.

Selected students will have the opportunity to present their work in a poster session and network with Janssen researchers. In addition, the participants will be invited to listen to presentations from Discovery Chemistry and Discovery Process Research colleagues, tour our research facilities, and hear a keynote lecture from a prominent academic speaker. All travel expenses for the participants will be covered. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

Eligible doctoral students must be in their 3^rd or 4^th year of graduate school (at a U.S. institution) with a primary research area in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, catalysis, chemical biology, or computational chemistry.

Interested students are encouraged to apply by submitting their CV (2 pages max) and Research Summary (2 pages max) as a single PDF document by January 15, 2022. Please submit application materials and inquiries to JanssenDiscoveryChemGRS@its.jnj.com.

Selected graduate student finalists will be contacted by the committee in late January 2022 and asked to submit a Letter of Recommendation from their faculty research advisor. The final cohort of awardees will be notified in February 2022.

Genentech is now accepting applications for our annual Graduate Student Symposium in Chemical Research seeking to recognize promising young scientists while highlighting career opportunities in pharmaceutical research.

The in-person two-day event*, scheduled for May 23-24^th 2022 will be hosted jointly by the departments of Discovery and Process Chemistry (*pending local and company guidance regarding COVID-19). The complete program will provide a valuable and rewarding experience for our distinguished guests, and will include:

• Research award symposium, including talks from graduate award recipients
• Keynote seminar from a leading early-career chemistry professor
• Distinguished Career Lecture from an eminent professor
• Research talks from Genentech Discovery and Process Chemistry highlighting breakthrough research programs
• Tour of the Genentech South San Francisco research laboratories
• Social/networking activities
• Honorarium for award recipients

Interested 4^th year graduate students are encouraged to submit a CV and short (1-3 pages) research summary here. Applications should be submitted as a single PDF document, with identifying name and institution in the file description (example: “Surname-Firstname-Institution”).

Applications must be received by December 31, 2021 for consideration.

Finalists will be contacted in January 2022 and asked to submit a letter of recommendation from their faculty advisor. Awardees will be notified by March 2022 and formally invited to the symposium.
